Abstract

Multiferroic composite materials have attracted a lot of attention for their excellent ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties. For the first time one-dimensional core-shell structure of CoFe2O4/Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3–0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 (CFO@BZCT) multiferroic composite was synthesized by electrospinning. The effect of electrospinning routes on the composite fibers properties was investigated. To do so, two different routes were utilized: the electrospinning of core and shell solutions using coaxial nozzle and the electrospinning of BZCT solution containing CFO fibers (with three different concentrations of 2, 4 and 8?g/100?ml solution). The fiber morphology was maintained for all samples in calcination temperatures up to 900??C. Spinel cob

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the impact of Erbium (Er) ion on the crystallization of Yttrium Fluorosilicate glass ceramics. The structure and chemical properties of the samples were analyzed in order to study the type of nucleation. In samples with 0.1% and 0.2% molar Er Acetate, X-ray method did not show crystal phase peaks; however the same method showed that samples prepared with 0.4% of Er acetate had a ceramic structure containing α-quartz and δ-Y2Si2O7. TEM findings showed when samples were heated at 400 ?C; nuclei under 5?nm could be observed which is related to YF3 crystals. Furthermore, the crystallization activation energy values were calculated through a modified version of Kissinger's method and for samples with 0.2%, 0.3

Abstract

Fabrication of bioactive scaffolds for tissue engineering applications has attracted attention in the past decades. Porous wollastonite glass–ceramic scaffolds coated and impregnated with titania (TiO2) particles were utilized through electrophoretic deposition. The present study aimed at improving specific surface area, strength, and getting highest penetration depth of TiO2 particles into the pores. Deposition time, applied voltage, and concentration of the process were optimized to achieve homogeneous TiO2 coating on the surface of scaffold. Scaffolds were then immersed in simulated body fluid solution, and x-ray diffraction analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy tests were conducted to determine their bioactivity. Mercu

Abstract

Ba (Zr 0.2 Ti 0.8) O 3–0.5 (Ba 0.7 Ca 0.3) TiO 3 or simply BZT-0.5 BCT has attracted increasing attention due to its excellent ferroelectric properties and lack of lead. BZT-0.5 BCT nanofibers were fabricated by sol–gel assisted electrospinning and post-calcination process. Different types of analysis were utilized to study phase evolutions and characterization of calcined fibers. TGA indicated three stages of polymer decomposition at temperatures below 500 C. FTIR spectroscopy revealed the presence of acetate salts of inorganic precursors in electrospun fibers. Also, it was determined that the formation of oxides started at temperatures around 300 C and intensified with a rise in temperature. In keeping with DSC and FTIR results, XRD a

Abstract

Abstract In this work, CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 (CCTO) glass-ceramic was prepared by using the melt-quenching method followed by a two-step heat treatment. The prepared glass frits with the chemical composition of 24SiO 2-65PbO-3K 2 O-7B 2 O 3-1ZnO (wt.%) were mixed with 32, 34 and 38 wt% of CCTO including 14.03 CaO-29.66 CuO-56.31 TiO 2 (wt.%) and melted at 1070-1090? C. The glass with 32 wt% of CCTO, which was XRD amorphous, was selected as the final composition. The heat treatment conditions were found to be 6 and 2 h at 468? C and 830? C, respectively. The faceted crystals of CCTO, two solid-solution of (Pb 1-x Ca x) TiO 3, and CaTiO (SiO 4) were formed in the glassy matrix during the crystallization based on the studies related to XRD, SEM, ED

Abstract

Crystallization kinetics of lithium aluminosilicate glass powder has been investigated by model-free and model–fitting methods. Non-isothermal experiments were carried out using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to monitor crystallization behavior. Model-free activation energy has been calculated based on Ozawa-Flynn-wall (OFW), Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) and Friedman (FR) methods during crystallization progress. Although activation energy does not significantly differ between the models (400–470 kJ/mol), partial Avrami coefficient n(α) varies considerably with rate and crystallization progress. A better description of the crystallization behavior could be observed by the comparison of model-free and model fitting methods.

Abstract

Abstract The yttrium fluorosilicate glass ceramic pieces were prepared by sol–gel method starting from yttrium acetate, trifluoroacetic acid, and tetraethylorthosilicate solutions. The starting solution composition and heating pattern were considered as variables for finding the optimum condition. Evaluated activation energy of crystallization by classical Kissinger method was 174.462 kJ/mol. The estimated Avrami exponents from Ozawa and Augis-Bennett equations were 1.167 and 1.357, respectively. They both indicate domination of surface crystallization. In addition, obvious YF3 crystallization peaks in sample heated from ambient temperature (20 ?C) to 320 ?C and then 60 ?C and keeping at each menti

Abstract

For hybrid materials, molecular interactions between inorganic and organic phases which are dependent upon the solvent and the procedure through which a hybrid is synthesized, directly affect the macroscopic properties. We report herein the effect of solvent (dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)) and synthesis route (freeze drying or heat treatment) on structural and microstructural properties, thermal stability and the apatite forming ability of silica/poly (amido amine) generation 5 (PAMAM G5) class II hybrids. Thorough investigations of the hybrids allowed us to prove the covalent coupling between inorganic and organic chains and inorganic condensation, as well as the nanoscale interactions and co-network of inorganic an

Abstract

In this study, the crystallization behavior of a 65GeO, 15PbO 10MgF 10MgOglass (prepared by the conventional melt quenching technique) has been investigated. The microstructure and crystallization behaviors of this glass were characterized using X-ray diffraction (ARD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), non-isothermal differential thermal analysis (DTA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results demonstrated that a fully glassy phase can successfully be prepared by the conventional melt quenching technique exhibiting one-stage crystallization on heating, ie, the glassy phase transforms into crystalline MgGeO, and Pb, GeO, phases. The activation energy for the crystallization, evaluated from the Kissinger equation, was

Abstract

Lithium aluminosilicate (LAS) is an interesting material for the electronics industry. The material has near zero water absorption, low dielectric constant, and low loss tangent. Therefore, this material is interesting for the packaging of radio frequency transmitters used under harsh conditions. In this study, LAS glass powders with different particle sizes were dry pressed. Densification, crystallization, microstructure and dielectric properties were studied during thermal treatments. The highest sintered density (about 97%) has been achieved with milled powder with a d90 of about 6?μm. Investigation of the microstructure reveals that flaky rutile has formed in β-spodumene grain boundaries even though spherical rutile is observed inside
