Hydropolitic meeting "Review of Aras River Challenges and Problems", October 23, with the participation of the Iran Department of Environment deputy (Dr. Zarei), head of Boundary Rivers and Common Water Resources organization (Dr. Bozorg Zadeh), and a group of University academics in this field from Tehran University(Dr. Piri) ), Tabriz University(Dr. Zarghami) and etc; was held at TMU.
Contamination from Armenia, Iran and Azerbaijan to the river, as well as water resources development projects under construction and study in Turkey and Armenia have made the basin's conditions unfavorable and on the verge of destruction.
The Iranian Department of Environment is a governmental organization, under the supervision of the president that is responsible for matters related to safeguarding the environment. The origins of the department can be traced back to the Hunting Club of Iran, established in 1956.
